History
Ciudad Juárez has been characterized as a leading participant in remarkable events within our region and in our country. It was a strategic site for Cabeza de Vaca on his expedition toward the north of New Spain on the King’s Highway. It twice served as capital of the nation under the government of Benito Juárez, whom we honor with the title “Meritorious One of the Americas.”  Francisco I. Madero began the Revolution here, and this was a locale for the social movements led by Doroteo Arango, better known as Pancho Villa. In recent times, this city has been recognized as an integrator and a leader in the economic subsector of multinational manufacturing.

In 1984 some of those who had participated in the industrial restructuring of the city--and the country--joined forces, pooled their assets, and decided to create a legal entity named Economic Development of Ciudad Juárez (Desarrollo Económico de Ciudad Juárez, Asociación Civil).

As the years went by, the Association grew into a leading organization in the El Paso Del Norte region.   It is sought for advice and support on any matter of interest.  It proactively supports projects to reach its historic goals as well as the current strategic plans of democratically elected leaders, in a cordial environment which is appropriate for the needs of our time.

Today, distinguished local business leaders are part of our organization. They selflessly serve as a team of professionals dedicated to achieve their goals in a variety of projects which they plan, implement, and support.

For quite some time this group of leaders has faced a variety of situations in the economic, social, and political areas--in Mexico and world-wide. They successfully dealt with the economic crisis and recovery of the 80s and 90s, the recession at the beginning of this century, and the democratic transition which has characterized the political life of our country during that time, bringing with it social transformation.

Now more than ever, Economic Development of Ciudad Juárez is committed to accomplish its goals for the well-being of the community.
